Leadership advising is the core of our practice. Our work is focused on achieving a decisive escape from excellence and making the qualitative shift to leadership mastery. The engagement and results are embedded, not episodic, as we work together in real time on your actual goals, challenges, and opportunities, all in the context of applying the Charism Leadership Model. This strikes a balance and creates synergy between your present needs and our structured program to most effectively escape excellence and achieve mastery.

We partner in individual advising relationships with senior leaders, including CEO and other C-level executives, President, GM, Divisional VP, and designated successors and high potentials. We also work on an individual and group basis with the members of the leadership team.

The structured part of the work begins with the Charism 360 assessment tool or a customized offering, followed by the Charism Discovery process tools (which contains our core frameworks and products), then our Action2 planning tool, and finally the Mastery Log to measure accountability and track progress. Throughout this process, we remain in a "coaching" relationship and stay attentive to the actual day to day challenges and opportunities facing our clients. This balance of structure and real time responsiveness is crucial.

This initial engagement with an individual can be structured flexibly, but usually involves periodic phone calls, on-site visits lasting a few days, and one or two off-site focused advising meetings scheduled throughout the process.

The Long View

Initial engagements with leaders include an average of six to nine months of individual advising. In many cases our advising work evolves and expands over time.

First, our clients often wish to extend the opportunity to escape from excellence to include their leadership team, critical teams, key contributors, or the entire company. This becomes the challenge of Enterprise Mastery. Our approach to this exceeds most leadership development programs and organizational change initiatives in the same way that mastery exceeds excellence: we change the game.

Second, our clients frequently continue to retain us on an ongoing and unstructured “coaching” basis, because they value the insight, support, common language and shared agenda, while maintaining the perspective of an observant outsider.

Third, clients will choose to re-engage us as specific new challenges or initiatives arise.
